I am your mummy!

Being twins full time mummy:

1. Sleep less, rest less, work almost 18 hours a day

2. Feel bad when both twins cried for milk initially, I keep on telling the other one, "Hold on Please, Gor Gor first or Mui Mui first ya!"

3. Feel bad when I need to cook and yet both cry for my attention and want me to carry, later I immune to your cry and let it be, T2 very fast learnt that no one will bothers her and she just stop crying. T1 very persistent crying for hug for longest time, I keep on telling myself, no worries, no body will die, despite T1 has hole inside his heart, I let him cry, then my first Filipino maid told me that morning crying strengthen his lung. After few sessions, T1 also learn and each time his cries is maximum 30 minutes.  I let him sleep alone at the cot instead of carry him sleep next to me, coz his sister will follow and both will play then and not sleep in the afternoon. He watches me sleeping on bed and cried loud loud, until sleep.

4. Sometimes mummy very tired and busy, mummy miss out to bathe you both, once or twice in a month during first 9 months. When I realise, was already 8pm plus at night, so decided just wipe your body.

5. Sometimes mummy very angry with your daddy, very upset with your grandmother, but mummy always tell myself, I am your mummy and I shall give you a home that full of love, full of harmony, full of laughter and and not full of quarrel and crying right? So everything I do I do it for you both.

6. Sometimes mummy feel like wanna back to work, but mummy understand mummy cannot have everything in this world, when mummy stays at home looks after your, mummy feels better and more secure.

7. Everything is give and take, I never regret my decision and I surrounded myself w full time happy mummies near and far.

8. Keep on remind myself to set learning and growing goals for you both.

9. What motivates me is everyday I remind myself to stay happy by doing things that I enjoy, could be making new friends, try a new recipe, watch a nice show, play and laugh with my twins.

Temper Tantrum

Both twins started to have temper tantrum 

Yesterday T1 open fridge and throw out one egg

Next he pull the rice container and causing all rice fall on floor

T2 climbs up up on grill and refuse to come down

Most funny part is she remove her cloths, naked and play with her body, haha

Every day both fights, both bites each other

Both likes to climb up the table, climb up high chair on their own using chair, climb up to my computer table and throw everything they can reach

Today T1 throw out our expensive camera, daddy needs to buy new one again

T1 also throw my phone before, causing my phone glass broken, luckily daddy have protection sheet, only need to change outer part.

T2 fell down many times recently, especially during evening when she is sleepy and try to climb up an down. Daddy said this weekend bring her check-up...daddy very worry and concern.

 

Flu at 22 months

Source of virus/bacteria:

1. Outside, as we went out almost every weekend and let you both eat a little bit of  outside food, you both just wanted follow what we eat :-)

2. Play ground: Dare not tell daddy, mummy been bringing your out to play ground for fun, could be from other kids

From 26 Sept

Mon- Tue: T1 vomit, T2 diarrhea 

Both having cough and running nose

Friday night: T2 fever, temp maintain at 38C for whole night, decided give panadol on Sat morning b4 seeing doctor

Saturday: See doc, doc prescribe:

1. Antibiotic ( Once a day for min 3 days, max 5 days if still not recover after 3 days; 3.5 ml )

2. Axcel Dexchlorpheniramine Forte Syrup 2.5ml , 3 times a day until recover

3. Cough Syrup 2.5ml, 3 times a day until recover

4. Axcel Paracetamol-250 Suspensivion (Strawberry)  2.5ml, only if fever

5. Cream for T1 stomach allergic to 如意油

Today I learnt:

1. If fall down and swollen, use ice, put inside plastic bag, cover w towel, cover the swollen part, when ice melt, put inside freezer again.

2. No need apply any oil, just rub our hands until hot, massage on baby stomach 

3. Fever cannot eat rice : Wrong!

4. Flu cannot shower: Wrong!

5. T2 lots of wind on stomach, no milk, if really want to give milk, give thin milk, not thicken milk

Dr Goon

Very experience doctor, but she speaks quite arrogant, no nonsense or small talk 

Parking is an issue around the place, lots of double parking

The car next to us was blocked and the block car owner did not pick up phone call, neither the fellow has any car plate number

Despite need to wait long but worth the wait, also can wait at nearby coffee shop, lots of coffee shops near by

Very convenience place, got Chinese Herb Shop, Caring Pharmacy, AA Pharmacy near by

Getting them to take medicine is another battle, hubby said long time did not force them medicine...

I was very tired, when they are unwell

1 could not sleep esp T1 wakes me up and wants me to carry him around, coz he is not feeling well

T2 does not eat much, no appetite, vomit out what she ate, does not want to drink water either...worry worry, already very light weight!

Anyway, I shall stay positive, at least this round is home treatment and not treatment at hospital. 

Night night routine

Daddy usually comes back around 8-9pm
Twins will shouted for joy when daddy opens door
Next twins are train to get hold of daddy's towel, carry towel and pass to daddy who is waiting at master bedroom
T1 very attached to daddy, always want to shower w daddy, despite mummy protest, daddy will shower with T1, ok lah, let you play hot water at night!

Next both twins carry towel each and hang back to the living hall stand hanger.


Daddy & mummy then have dinner which daddy bought back, Wan Tan Mee, both of your also want to eat, sit on our lap each.

Next daddy wash dishes and mummy bring your brush your teeth, pee and change to sleeping shirts + pants.


Daddy's play time with you both, house is full of laughter and your daddy's joke on mummy...hmm

Inside bedroom:
First thing you both wants to stand on the table attached to the window and enjoy the panoramic night view. Your fingers will point here and there with "Er er.."  Trying to communicate w me w your baby talk.

Then your will play with my room window, next with my cream, clips and stuff on table as well as the curtain, which mummy then have to stop both of your by diverting your attention.

Until you both ready to be down the floor mattress, you both wants mummy to sing song for your

Ok, entertain your with few songs, T2 holds mummy fingers dancing on the bed, T1 holds mummy's throat and wondering why mummy throat moving when singing..

T1 and T2 then fight for space to sleep on mummy's pillow, yes, 3 of us share the same pillow

Sometimes daddy will sleep with your, but sometimes daddy needs to finish some work at his room so leave you both sleep w mummy's first

Sometimes

Twins runs around the room and until tired only sleep
Twins do all funny actives, turning their hands act like driving

T2 has special body language, her hands will have actions as thot she is playing violin before sleeping, very interesting
Both points to their private part and tell me they want to pee, sometimes is true sometimes they just find excuses to sneak out look for papa


Mummy also tired, sleep with both of your, hugs hugs with sweet dream babies

My hse is full of LOVE!

It was father's day and your papa been teaching you both how to kiss him!

At night, suddenly Jian came to me and kiss me
He kisses both my cheeks, one after another
Ying also follows his brother, also kisses both my cheeks....

Wow! Such a miracle, that shows you both loves mummy so much despite mummy never ask for kisses ...

When mummy told daddy Jian kisses me instead, daddy feels jealous yor...HAHA!


Darling you know, Jian kisses make me feel so high, its like making love with a man you know!

Daddy even more jealous!


Next morning I wake up with lots of saliva smell on my face.

First Letter To My Pre-mature Twins

The moment when mummy delivered you both at 35 weeks,  mummy was in depression with strong guilt, especially doctor pronounced you both have holes in your hearts.

Mummy greatest phobia was when both of you ill...

Your hospitalization record as of today:

1st Month:  NICU for 20 days for observation, blood transfusion and weight gain

1st Month 3rd week: Twin One admitted to hospital again due to abnormal ear discharge

2  Month: Both Twins admitted due to lung infection, both on oxygen tube support & antibiotic. Twin two re-admitted to ICU due to severe chest recession, mummy saw you being lock in a high oxygen flow incubator, crying very very loud. Nothing that mummy could do except watch you crying, helpless and in deep sorrow, mummy never forget the moment you were inside incubator. 

Twin One recover very slow due to hole in your heart...mummy broke down at hospital for 20 days without sleep. Despite doctor's advise, mummy never want to leave you at hospital alone receive treatment, mummy stay with you till doctor approve to discharge you. Your sister, twin two also stay with us, despite she was able to discharge one week earlier than you. 

7 month: Twin One out of sudden having high fever, another hospital stay for 1 week, this round mummy never cry, already a frequent hospital client, nothing worst compare to first two months that we went through baby. 

Mummy heard many real stories of pre-mature babies:

1.  Unable to walk untill 2 years old

2.  Unable to speak until 4 years old & etc.

Something that we don't know what to expect until the time comes.... mummy worry....whether it happens to you both...especially when both of you have heart defects.

NO! My twins, don't worry, as mummy writing this, both of your development has been on par with normal babies, sometimes even beyond daddy & mummy expectations!

Remember, it was Auntie L, your third month nanny whom came and help us.

Auntie L 

Sleep Through The Night 

She tune you both sleep through the night without milk ( 11pm-12am until 7am-8am ). Despite this, you both reach normal weight range at 3 month. 

Twin two, you didn't want to sleep. especially at night, cried non stop since second month back from hospital, daddy said you are colic baby, we tried all methods ( swaddle, carry you whole night long, sing & dance with you ) but doesn't work, until Auntie L came, you slept on her arm at night, only for a while ( about 5 minutes ) she carry you.

Sun Bath

Every morning sun bath you both for 10 minutes, to avoid skin problems. Doctor preamp mummy that twin one likely to have eczema ( seborrheic dermatitis ). Twin Two you have severe rashes on your cheeks. All thanks to Auntie L, you both never have the problem since then, don't even need to apply any cream from doctor.

Twin two you enjoy sun bath a lot, while Twin One, you cried so loud every time sun bath, until the neighbor would have taught we abuse you!

Supplements 

She introduces supplements that support your healthy growth. 

Ever since then, you both grow up healthy: 

6 Month: Twin One crawls

7 Month: Twin One can stand with support

9 Month: Twin Two crawls

9 Month: Twin One can walk with support

9 Month: Twin One mumbles "Papa"

10 Month: Twin Two also mumbles "Papa"

10 Month: Twin Two can stand and walk with support 

Your Heart Holes conditions:

Twin Two: @ 7 month, doc confirms fully closed up. Hurrah! 

Twin One: @ 9 month, doc said size has reduced from 6mm to 4mm, likely hood to close up as you grow up, no medication at all.

Its amazing that twin one can stand at seven month despite pre-mature and having hole in his heart, twin one, if mummy don't say this, no one knows you have hole in your heart right?

Mummy's Milk 
Mummy was very weak after delivery and didn't have enough breast milk, thought of giving up at third month but it was auntie L whom keeps on encourage mummy never give up, continue to pump out every 3 hours and every day prepare meals, soup that helps mummy increase milk. Thanks to her, although it wasn't enough for full supply, you both had enjoy mummy's milk.  

Porridge 

She taught mummy how to cook porridge. What to give you both eat so that you both grow up tall & strong. Twin Two, auntie L said will make you grow up tall with top fashion model's figure in future, but remember your daddy disapprove you to be a fashion model, ok? 

So even you are having the model's figure but you cannot become model, ok? :-)

You have make daddy very busy in the morning and night ( no matter how busy, every day he gives you both his hugs and kisses, his smiles and his laughter, right? )


Remember, there were many people whom have helped us along the way, and we shall treasure them one day...

Confinement Lady / Nanny (Auntie L)

This page is for anyone who wants to hire a confinement lady or short term nanny, especially for twins mother whom have high risk of pre-mature babies, or babies whom born with illness.


I didn't manage to book her as my confinement lady. Both my confinement ladies have no experience in handling twins. Towards the end of my confinement, I broke down in hospital with my sick twins, very tired of  taking care of twins round the clock for 20 days, eventually I have to beg my confinement lady to stay at hospital taking care of my twins a few hours a day so that I can be release and have few hours for uninterrupted sleep at home. Later when I knew auntie L,  I  realize she had help many mummies take care of their babies in hospital many years ago.

She works for me as stay-in nanny for one month in my twins 3rd month. She put my twins sleep through the night in a week. She diligently bring my babies for sun bath every day which helps to resolve my babies skin problems, especially the rashes on cheeks and private parts, without applying any cream prescribed by doctor. I was about to give up breast milk as no matter how hard I tried, I
only managed to pump out very little milk, 10ml a day. She encourages me continue pumping, never give up, reminding me that my milk is the best thing for my twins' wellness especially they have holes in their hearts. Moreover, she said breast milk can help baby gain weight ( since mine are pre-mature under weight) , resolve constipation, also it helps them to clean the white spots on their tongue.

When she was with me, I manage to have some free time. My babies routine is sleep, milk, burp, then sleep again. Unlike the previous month nanny, she stayed awake at night to care for my babies and I have to let her take nap for 2-3 hours in the afternoon. Auntie L didn't take nap longer than one hour, as she didn't have to stay awake during night time since my twins sleep through the night.
Sometimes in the afternoon, we even spend time to make pau...haha, not bad huh, two full time twin carers able to accomplish so much, baby sitting, house work, cooking 3 meals plus baking. Sometimes I go out whole afternoon & let her manage the twins, my twins sleep about 2-3 hours in the afternoon, when I return, she usually already finish all the house work ( wipe the fans, mop the floor & etc. ).  It was then that I told myself, why not I try handle my twins alone without helper, since Auntie L can do it, why not me.....?

Background:

Sept 2011 – date: Confinement Lady ( worked for Chinese, Malay, Indian and Mat Salleh family before, been travel to Australia and other parts of the world )

August 2011: Taking care of a new born with heart problem at hospital during confinement period, the new born were staying at ICU since birth. Initially doctor said baby would need to stay at hospital for minimum 3 months, but after her support through mummy breast feeding, the new born were discharge 3 weeks after operation.

March 2008 - Aug 2011: Baby sister – take care of baby from birth till 2 years old.
During her tenure of service, the toddler did not fall sick for 2.5 years, except when during her off day where the toddler was taken care by her parents. The toddler were able to turn her back at 2.5 months and able to walk by holding the bed side at 5th months under her care.

2007: Nanny for a toddler with asthma (3 years old) 。This toddler’s asthma is so critical that he required to be supported by oxygen tube 24 hours. After her dedicated care for 4 months, the toddler does not require oxygen support anymore, the doctor were surprised with his recovery progress.

2005 - 2006: 11 months taking care of a baby girl having illness in hospital ICU (The baby girl has cleft palate,epilepsy, blind, cramps).
